Said Willie Maldonado, Milk Studios founder and co-chair of the Photo17 event: “The untold loss — and untold stories of the artists, models, and fashion industry leaders cannot be measured. This is our way of bringing those stories to life, and to remember those people in an artistic way.”

STORIES: The AIDS Monument — one of the features of West Hollywood Park’s multi-million-dollar renovation — is in the final fundraising phase, which is why the photography auction known as Photo17 is back once again this year to push the project toward completion. Set for Oct. 5 at Milk Studios on Cahuenga Boulevard, the event, now in its third year, benefits the Daniel Tobin-designed monument which Sharon Stone describes simply as “love.”

“It means hope; it means we do our part and stand against the ill will we see in the world,” said the actress and philanthropist, who is returning this year as honorary chair. She’ll be joined on the invite by singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright, who will perform for the crowd.

This auction — both live and silent — will feature the work of many famous photographers displayed inside the studio. Highlights include rare photos of Jessica Lange taken by lensman Antonio Lopez; images of Sylvester Stallone, Debbie Harry and Andy Warhol by Norman Seeff; and signed Herb Ritts photographs courtesy of the Herb Ritts Foundation. In all, Photo17 will include 80 silent lots and 20 live lots, with bidding available around the world via Paddle8 online bidding.

Said Willie Maldonado, Milk Studios L.A. founder, partner and co-chair: “The untold loss and untold stories of the artists, models and fashion industry leaders cannot be measured. This is our way of bringing those stories to life, and to remember those people in an artistic way.”

Steven Paul’s SP Releasing has set an October release in the U.S. for ESX Entertainment’s Sharon Stone drama “Running Wild,” Variety has learned exclusively.

“Wilfred” star Dorian Brown and “Sons of Anarchy’s” Tommy Flanagan are also starring with Brown playing a widow who saves her ranch by working with convicts to rehabilitate a herd of wild horses that have wandered onto her property. Flanagan portrays the leader of the convicts, and Stone plays the villain.

Alex Ranarivelo (“The Dog Lover”) directed “Running Wild” from a script by Brian Rudick and co-producer Christina Moore. The film is financed and produced by ESX’s Forrest Lucas and Ali Afshar.

The pic is scheduled for release by SP Releasing and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment in October with an initial theatrical opening of at least 30 cities in the United States and a simultaneous VOD day-and-date launch.

Forrest Lucas and Ali Afshar’s ESX Entertainment is supported by Protect The Harvest in a partnership to produce projects with budgets under $10 million with a goal of telling inspirational stories that support the American way of life and the American dream. ESX has completed production on five movies.

SP Releasing’s upcoming slate includes “JL Ranch,” starring Jon Voight, Melanie Griffith, and James Caan; and “The Dog Lover,” starring James Remar, Lea Thompson, Jayson Blair and Allison Paige.

Paul is currently producing the Scarlett Johansson-starrer “Ghost in the Shell.” He has struck multiple film production deals in the last year in the U.S., China and Thailand for “Expendables 4” and “Security.” [Source]

Renowned actress and humanitarian Sharon Stone will receive the 2016 Service to America Leadership Award from the NAB Education Foundation (NABEF) for her ongoing commitment to raising awareness and support of AIDS research, prevention and treatment. Stone will receive the honor at NABEF’s Celebration of Service to America Awards on June 21.

The Service to America Leadership Award recognizes individuals and organizations responsible for improving the lives of others through extraordinary public service. Considered NABEF’s highest individual honor, the award will be presented during the Celebration of Service to America Awards held Tuesday, June 21 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C.

“Sharon Stone is a gifted actress and humanitarian recognized for her work both on and off the screen,” said NABEF President Marcellus Alexander. “Her tireless advocacy efforts have helped the AIDS research community come closer to finding a cure for one of the world’s most crippling epidemics.”

Stone began her career as an international print model and network television actress and in 1980, she debuted on the big screen in Woody Allen’s “Stardust Memories.” In 1992, she starred in the blockbuster “Basic Instinct” and in 1995, she earned a Golden Globe Award and Academy Award nomination for her role in Martin Scorsese’s “Casino.” In 2015, Stone starred in the TNT drama series “Agent X” and most recently appeared in the features “The Disaster Artist,” directed by James Franco, and “Mosaic,” directed by Steven Soderbergh.

Due to the ageism that exists for female actresses in Hollywood, we haven’t seen much of Sharon Stone in the more popular movies of the past decade. In the past 10 years she’s had parts in Alpha Dog, Bobby, Lovelace, Fading Gigolo and that awful Basic Instinct sequel in 2006. Stone even starred in her own series called Agent X on TNT in 2015, which has since been canceled. However, a career boost might be in her future after a certain comic book movie studio gives her a role.

While appearing as a guest on The Late Late Show with James Corden (via local news affiliate WBT, brought to our attention by ComingSoon.net), the Basic Instinct star revealed that she will have a role in an upcoming Marvel Studios movie. And the way she worded this revelation makes us think that it will be for the upcoming sequel Ant-Man and The Wasp. Find out more below.

Here’s what Sharon Stone told James Cordn on his show when asked if she would consider doing a superhero movie:

“I am going to do a Marvel movie. I’m just doing a wee part in a Marvel movie, upcoming, and I can’t tell, because you know, you have to sign confidentiality agreements. But I’m going to do a wee part in a Marvel movie now. That’s it.”

Notice how she specifically say a “wee part” twice? The Ant-Man franchise certainly has a lot to do with size, specifically superheroes who are small. But who would Stone play? How about Hank Pym’s wife and Hope Van Dyne’s mother, Janet Van Dyne?

Zac Efron, Seth Rogen, Josh Hutcherson, Jacki Weaver, Hannibal Buress, Ari Graynor and Andrew Santino are also on board. James Franco is also writing and directing.

The film takes an in-depth look at the making of the 2003 cult classic “The Room” — hailed by many as one of the worst movies ever made. James Franco will play director Tommy Wiseau while Dave Franco will play Greg Sestero, who co-starred in the film. Theaters across the nation still play the pic in midnight showings.

Stone will play a Hollywood agent. Production is currently under way in Los Angeles.

TNT is doing some housecleaning today. Along with officially renewing The Librarians, Murder in the First and Major Crimes, TNT-logo__130925223204the network also has cancelled Legends, Public Morals and Agent X. All three axed shows had been leftovers from the previous regime. Neither had performed particularly well in the ratings, though sophomore Legends starring Sean Bean got some props for improving creatively in Season 2. The other two shows were cancelled after one season.

Along with picking The Librarians, Murder In The First and Major Crimes, along with previously renewed Rizzoli & Isles and The Last Ship, TNT recently picked up two new drama series for next year, Good Behavior and Animal Kingdom, to join straight-to-series The Alienist as the network is tweaking its brand toward edgier fare.

TNT experimented with Ed Burns’ generally well-received period police drama Public Morals, releasing the season on-demand. Burns created, produces, directs and stars as cop Terry Muldoon in the series set in the seedy, gritty streets and the bright, seductive lights of 1960s New York, where the laws on the books seek to curb all kinds of sin and vice. Michael Rapaport and Elizabeth Masucci co-starred.

Thriller Agent X, starring Sharon Stone and Jeff Hephner, largely has been panned by critics but was the strongest ratings-wise among the three canceled series. In the most recent Live+3 weekly ratings, the auctioneer drew 1.7 million viewers vs. 1.1 million for Legends. For comparison, that same week, just-renewed Major Crimes and The Librarians logged 5.4 million and 3.3 million viewers, respectively. The linear L+3 viewership for Public Morals, which finished its run a month and a half ago, had been just under 1 million, though given its mixed distribution model, those numbers don’t provide a full picture of its performance.

Spy thriller Legends, which was completely revamped for Season 2 with a new supporting cast and locations, starred Bean as an undercover FBI agent on the run for a murder he didn’t commit who searches for his true identity. Agent X centered on a top secret agent (Hephner) deployed at the discretion of the Vice President (Sharon Stone). [Source]

Screen Media Films has acquired U.S. rights to the drama “Mothers Day,” starring Courtney Cox, Rosalyn Sanchez, Susan Sarandon and daughter Eva Amurri Martino, Sharon Stone, Christina Ricci and Paul Wesley, Variety has learned exclusively.

Screen Media is planning on a second quarter release that will be tied to Mother’s Day on May 8, 2016.

Lotus Entertainment will be taking meetings with international buyers during the American Film Market to continue to sell foreign rights.

“Mothers Day” is Paul Duddridge’s feature film directing debut, with Nigel Levy co-directing. The script by Paige Cameron is based on a concept by Duddridge.

The production company is Siempre Viva Productions in association with Aloe Entertainment and Mass Hysteria Entertainment. Producers are Danielle James and Amy Williams, who are both working mothers.

Through a series of photographs documenting motherhood in all its varieties, she considers what it means to be maternal at all.

“This is an all-star cast of some of the most talented working actresses today,” said Seth Needle, Screen Media’s director of worldwide acquisitions. “While I can’t speak personally to the mother-daughter relationship, I know how complex and intimate it can be and we felt this film captured it perfectly.”

Executive producers are Mary Aloe, Daniel Grodnik, Sean Glover, Terry Chase Chenowith, Michael Torchia, Tricia Small, Brett Crain, Dina El-Kadri and Eric and Tammy Guseric.

The deal was negotiated by Needle for Screen Media, with Daniel Brandt of Lotus Entertainment on behalf of the filmmakers. [Source]
